The Vision

To embed Wedgwood College into the educational provision of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire to help raise achievement and aspirations through a residential learning experience.

Why?

• The College is a valuable resource in attractive grounds.

• It is under used by the groups who need it most.

• Its location means that it is very accessible to some of the most deprived communities in Stoke-on-Trent.

• By providing opportunities to develop confidence and self esteem as well as acquiring new skills and knowledge.

• Particularly useful if specific groups are targeted such as disaffected and under achieving young people.

• More positive relationships with each other and teachers

• Improved motivation

• Feeling valued

• Having fun!

• Learning can be accelerated as there is more time available than in a standard school day.

• Model developed based on shared activities between the College and Stanley Head Outdoor Educational Centre

• The college is an attractive place to locate the accommodation, and, activities can be planned at both venues to complement each other.

• The College can deliver parts of the curriculum, or the school can deliver all of it. Instructors at Stanley Head are well qualified and experienced.
